Introduction

This page is for the Renesas RL78 family of MCUs. The main goal is to make the information about RL78 MCUs friendly, easy to access for embedded developers.

Getting Started with RL78

Other resources on Renesas Website.  Links below are pre-configured searches.  You can modify them as needed.  

e2studio and CS+ are the Renesas supported IDEs.  Note that in Americas region, only e2studio is supported. You can also use Embedded Workbench for RL78. 

Supported toolchains are Renesas CC-RL, IAR C/C++ Compiler for RL78, and LLVM for Renesas RL78.  

Boards

RL78 series boards are available here. There are several types of boards are available:

  • Renesas Starter Kits (RSK)
  • Fast Prototyping Boards (FPB)
  • Target Boards (CPU Boards)
  • Evaluation Boards for Specific Field

You can use below link to provide feedback.  Here is the process:

Microcontroller Customer Portal

  1. Login your OFJ account
  2. Create a TASK ticket (same as before)
  3. Fillin Summary and Description fields (same as before)
    1. Provide  a detailed description
    2. Copy heading links from the Table of Contents in each page and paste it in your Description (this is important so we can locate your feedback on Renesas Wiki)
  4. Select "Documentation" from the Components pulldown
  5. Select "RENESAS WIKI" from the Product pulldown
  6. Select your region from the Region supporting downtown (same as before) 
  7. Submit your OFJ ticket

If you do not have access to Microcontrollers Customer Portal, please contact your local FAE to discuss the issue.  FAE may be able to help you and resolve it.  If not, your local FAE can file a ticket for you.
